Job Description

Life in the fast lane

As our Legal Counsel, you will be joining a team of 6 who make up our Legal & Strategy Department. 

This is a Permanent position, based at our Head Office in St Kilda. 

Reporting to the Senior Legal Counsel, you will be responsible for providing clear, practical and commercially focused legal advice to support business objectives and decision-making. Additionally, this role will partner with stakeholders to support procurement and tender processes, ensuring appropriate legal input and compliance.  

Additionally, you will: 

  • Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements and provide practical advice on appropriate contracting structures. 
  • Support procurement and tender processes, including preparation of tender documentation, evaluation support and compliance with relevant Victorian Government procurement frameworks. 
  • Maintain accurate contract records, including contract management systems and document repositories. 
  • Support the administration of the legal function, including budgeting, invoice processing and reporting. 
  • Support with governance processes and compliance obligations. 

What you'll bring to the role: 

  • Tertiary qualifications in Law 
  • Current Australian practicing certificate 
  • Minimum 2-3 years PQE gained within a leading law firm or in-house (including secondment) 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts clearly and succinctly. 
  • Confident in engaging, influencing and building rapport with stakeholders at all levels. 
  • A current Police Check and Victorian Working with Children Check (Employee), or be willing to obtain
